In Kentucky, it seems like residents of the Bluegrass State have taken that mantra to heart, with the region having the seventh highest search interest score of any state in America, at 161, ranking in a tie with Oklahoma nationally.

Using Google Trends, we created a list of most appreciative states based on total search interest scores for the search terms “Mom,” and “Mother’s Day.”

Where Kentucky Ranks Nationally
Nationally, Kentucky’s search interest score ranks just behind Arkansas and Tennessee, which had the fifth highest total, at 162, while the Bluegrass State finished ahead of Texas (88 search interest score) and Georgia (87 search interest score).
The U.S. leaders when it came to interest in topics surrounding Mother’s Day were West Virginia (183 search interest score), Mississippi (182 search interest score), Louisiana (179 search interest score), and Alabama (173 search interest score), illustrating how important moms are to residents in America’s southern states.
The region has a near monopoly on the American top 10, with the only non-Southern state to make the cut being the Mountaineer State, which could arguably be included as a “Southern” state by some.
Nonetheless, when residents of Kentucky get together with their moms in mid-May, they can take solace in knowing their home state takes an added level of interest in ensuring that the woman that means the most to most of us is front and center in state residents' minds in 2024.
