Kentucky Online Lottery Games

Kentucky Lottery games offer plenty of ways to score a big payday. Players can take a shot at multi-state games like Powerball and Mega Millions for the chance to win jackpots starting at $20 million.

What games can I play on KY lottery online?

Draw games and Instant Win games can be played online. Players can buy KY lottery tickets for any game online or from a retailer.

Popular draw games exclusive to the Bluegrass State include Kentucky Lottery pick 3, Kentucky Lottery pick 4, Kentucky 5, Lucky for Life, Fast Play, and Cash Ball 225.

There are also more than 60 instant play games with prizes of up to $300,000. These games offer instant rewards (hence the name) instead of waiting for a draw. For players who like the speed of instant plays but prefer the rush of draws, Keno is a great hybrid option with draws every 4 minutes.

Kentucky Draw Games

Lottery draws are a fan favorite for their simple game structure and large jackpots. Players can win cash prizes for matching selected or random "Quick Pick" numbers to the KY Lottery draw. We've listed the rules, odds, and payouts for the best Kentucky State Lottery draw games below.

Kentucky 5

Kentucky 5 is a daily KY Lottery game that draws 5 numbers to match for the chance to win a cash prize. Tickets can be purchased for up to 14 consecutive draws (called "Multi-Draw"). Each draw costs $1 or $2 with the Xtra add-on to multiply prizes for matching 3 or 4 numbers. Xtra add-ons are randomly selected from multipliers ranging between 2 and 5. The odds of getting each multiplier is 1 in 4.

How to play Kentucky 5:

  1. ✅ Enter 5 numbers (1-39) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Choose how many drawings to play
  3. ✅ Add "Xtra Multiplier" (optional)

The jackpot starts at $40,000 and increases by a minimum of $5,000 each day until there is a winner. Players have a 1 in 575,757 chance of matching all 5 numbers to win the jackpot. Other prizes include $250 for matching 4 numbers, $5 for matching, and $2 for matching 2 numbers if the ticket has an Xtra add-on. The overall odds of winning any Kentucky Lottery KY 5 prize are 1 in 99.59 or 1 in 8.77 with an Xtra Multiplier.

Fast Play

Fast Play is a series of 4 Kentucky Lottery games with instant cash prizes and a rolling jackpot that starts at $10,000. Players can buy Fast Play tickets for $1-$10 from retailers, vending machines, or the KY Lottery app. Each ticket is generated at the time of purchase with "Spin Numbers" (for players) and "Table Numbers" (for matching). Instead of waiting for a draw, players can immediately claim prizes for winning tickets.

 How to play Fast Play:

  1. ✅ Pick a Fast Play game (4 options)
  2. ✅ Match 3 to 6 "Spin Numbers" to "Table Numbers"
  3. ✅ Scan tickets to check for prizes

Instant cash prizes range between $1 to $5,000, which can be multiplied up to 40 times. If your ticket has a 50x multiplier on a $5,000 prize, the payout would be $50,000. Jackpot prizes depend on the ticket price. Players can win 10% of the jackpot for $1 tickets, 20% for $2 tickets, 50% for $5 tickets, and 100% for $10 tickets. The odds of winning any Fast Play jackpot are 1 in 240,000.

Cash Ball 225

Cash Ball 225 is a daily Kentucky State Lottery draw game with a $225,000 jackpot. Tickets are sold for $1 per draw (up to 21 consecutive draws). Players can add EZ Match for another $1 per draw. EZ Match is an instant win game with cash prizes up to $500. If 4 or more of the numbers you choose (including the Cash Ball) match the EZ Match numbers, you win the amount shown.

How to play Cash Ball 225:

  1. ✅ Pick 4 numbers (1-35) and a Cash Ball (1-25) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Choose the number of drawings
  3. ✅ Add "EZ Match" (optional)

There are 8 ways to win in the main draw. Matching the Cash Ball will get you a free ticket. Other prizes range from $5 (1 number + Cash Ball) to $2,250 (4 numbers). There is about a 1 in 1,309,000 shot of matching all 4 numbers and the Cash Ball to win the jackpot. If you replay numbers on a new ticket, the Cash Ball selections will remain the same, but a new set of EZ Match numbers will be generated.

Lucky for Life

Lucky for Life is a weekly draw game with the chance to win $1,000 a day or $25,000 per year for life. Winners of either lifetime prize are guaranteed to receive payments for a minimum of 20 years or one lump sum. The one-time cash option for the jackpot is $5,750,000 and $390,000 for the second prize. The odds of winning the top prizes are 1:30,821,472 (jackpot) and 1:1,813,028 (second place).

How to play Lucky for Life:

  1. ✅ Select 5 numbers (1-48) and 1 Lucky Ball (1-18) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Choose up to 21 drawings

Tickets cost $2 per draw. If you choose 21 consecutive draws, this would cost $42. Match all 5 numbers and the Lucky Ball to claim the jackpot or just 5 numbers for the second prize. Other prizes start at $4 (match 1 number) and go up to $5,000 (match 4 numbers + Lucky Ball). Draws for the top 3 prizes that result in multiple winners will be split equally among winning tickets.

Keno Kentucky Lottery

Keno Kentucky Lottery is a daily draw game that runs every 4 minutes. Each Keno round randomly selects 20 numbers. Prizes range between $2 (match 1 number) to $100,000 (match 10 numbers). Payouts can grow up to 10 times the original amount for winning tickets with a multiplier add-on. Players can also win extra cash prizes of up to $200,000 if any number matches the Bulls-Eye.

How to play Kentucky Keno:

  1. ✅ Select up to 10 numbers (1-80) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Enter a wager amount for each draw ($1-$20)
  3. ✅ Choose how many draws to play (up to 20)
  4. ✅ Add a Multiplier (optional)
  5. ✅ Add a Bulls-Eye (optional)

Ticket prices start at $1 and increase with wager amounts and add-ons. Each add-on doubles the cost of the base keno wager. For example, $20 Base Keno Wager + Bulls-Eye + Multiplier = $60. If this ticket had 5 consecutive draws it would cost $300 ($60 x 5 Draws). Odds for winning Kentucky Keno depend on how many numbers (called "spots") are selected. Playing 1 spot has a 1 in 4 chance of winning compared to 1 in 9 for a ticket with 10 spots.

Multi-State Draw Games

Multi-state lotteries add a few more ways to get action beyond the Bluegrass State. The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) runs a handful of jackpot games across 34 member lotteries. Since multiple states can pool prize money, the payouts are usually bigger than exclusive KY State lottery games. These are the most popular multi-state draw games available for Kentucky residents.

Kentucky Powerball

Kentucky Lottery Powerball has weekly draws every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday with a rolling jackpot starting at $40 million. Match all 5 numbers plus the Powerball to win the jackpot. The order of the first 5 numbers (white balls) doesn't matter, but the final Powerball (red ball) must match the Powerball number on the ticket. Jackpot winners can choose between 30 annual payments or a one-time cash option.

How to play Powerball:

  1. ✅ Choose 5 numbers (1-69) and 1 Powerball (1-26) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Select the number of draws
  3. ✅ Add "Power Play" to multiply winnings (optional)

Regular Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players can add a "Power Play" for an extra $1 to multiply winnings up to 10 times (excluding the jackpot). Payouts on non-jackpot prizes max out around $40-$500,000 with a 10x multiplier. The Match 5 prize (second place) with Power Play is set at $2 million. The overall odds of winning any KY Powerball prize are 1:24.8671.

Kentucky Mega Millions

Kentucky Mega Millions draws are held every Tuesday and Friday for the chance to win a jackpot that's currently estimated at $322 million. Each ticket can have up to 26 consecutive draws or "Just the Jackpot" for 2 chances to win the top prize. Jackpot tickets are not eligible for other cash prizes, which range from $2-$1 million all the way up to $5 million with a 5x Megaplier. There is a 1 in 24 chance of winning any Mega Millions prize.

How to play KY Mega Millions:

  1. ✅ Pick 5 numbers (1-70) and 1 Mega Ball (1-25) or use "Quick Pick"
  2. ✅ Choose up to 26 draws
  3. ✅ Add "Megaplier" to multiply winnings (optional)

Tickets start at $2 per play or $3 with a Megaplier add-on. Just the Jackpot tickets are $3 for 2 draws (max 10 draws). Rules for winning the Mega Millions jackpot are similar to Powerball. The first 5 numbers (white balls) can be in any order, but the Mega Ball number (gold ball) has to match the ticket. Jackpots can be awarded as one lump sum or 30 annual payments.

Instant Win Games

Instant win games are commonly referred to as instant play or scratch games. Unlike draw games that require players to pick numbers and wait for a live draw, instant win games deliver immediate lottery results. Kentucky Lottery History

The Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC) began in 1989 with a network of over 5,000 licensed retailers. Ticket sales on the first day were over $5 million on two instant play games, Beginner's Luck and Kentucky Derby Dreamstakes. Kentucky launched multi-state lottery games starting in 1992 with Powerball followed by Mega Millions in 2010.

Kentucky gambling laws require 35% of KY Lottery sales revenue to be held in a general fund for expenses, prizes, and state programs. These programs include college grants and scholarships, affordable housing projects, early childhood literacy programs, and Vietnam War veterans. More than $4 billion in scholarships and grants have been awarded to students across the Commonwealth.
