An NFL moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win a given matchup. The team favored to win is indicated with minus odds (-), and the underdog is indicated with plus signs. The profit margins are lower when betting on a favored team to win, whereas wagers on the underdog have higher profit margins.
An NFL point spread bet is a wager on a game's margin of victory, where the team favored to win is indicated with a minus (-) sign ahead of the number of points they are favored to win by. Underdogs are indicated with a plus (+) sign, followed by the number of points by which they are projected to lose.
An over/under NFL bet, sometimes also referred to as a point total bet, is a wager placed on the combined number of points that two teams in a given matchup will score. NFL betting sites will install a projected point total, and bettors wager on whether the final combined score will be above (the over) or below (the under).
